Kliff is the main protagonist of Crimson Desert and handles the vast majority of the campaign. He is a versatile warrior capable of Sword & Shield, Spear, Dual-Wield, Longsword, and Unarmed combat styles. His skill tree contains 96 skills split across three branches — Stamina, Spirit, and Health — giving him one of the deepest build options of any character in the game.

Easy

Balanced offense and defense. Use heavy attacks after a successful parry, Force Palm to create openings, and Quick Swap to spear for stagger punish windows.

Primary — Sword of the Wolf (early), then Sword of the Lord (Chapter 2 Kailok reward) for its Wind Slash AoE. Secondary — Warspike Spear for punish windows. Shield — Grey Wolf Wooden Shield early, upgrade to Lifsoth Large Shield (Witch's House in Hernand, 12→35 DEF).

Keep enemies at the tip of your spear with counterattacks and Stab variations. The built-in ranged option from the Rhinard Cannon provides excellent versatility. Very forgiving and punishing once set up.

Warspike Spear early, upgrade to stronger spears as available. Rhinard Cannon as ranged secondary.

Bolton Plate Helm + Canta Plate Armor — same as the Sword & Shield build.

Counter Stance (core spear skill), Stab variations, Keen Senses, Grappling.

Unarmed Brawler

AoE Powerhouse

AoE powerhouse using Iron Fists and Grappling combos. Requires high Stamina and precise combo execution. Crucially, glove and boot attack bonuses DO apply to unarmed attacks — unlike weapon-based builds — so stack offensive Abyss Gear on those slots.

Upgrade stats in this order for the best survivability and damage output.

  • The enemy kill bar provides unlimited Artifacts — farm blockaded areas between story missions.
  • Glove and boot attack bonuses only apply to unarmed combat, NOT weapon attacks. Plan your gear slots accordingly.
  • The Ignir Sword (Chapter 7, defeat Ludvig) is the best endgame weapon with 5 Abyss Core sockets.
