How to Hide Helmet

Workarounds to remove or conceal your helmet in Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert does not have a built-in option to hide your helmet while keeping its stats. Helmets can only be equipped (visible, with stats) or unequipped (invisible, without stats). There is no transmog or appearance-override system. However, several practical workarounds exist — the fastest being the Armor Quick Menu, which lets you swap or remove your helmet in seconds.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

1

Open the Quick Menu

Hold Left on the D-Pad (controller) or press T / F2 (PC keyboard) to open the Quick Menu radial wheel.

2

Navigate to the Armor Tab

From the Quick Menu, press R1 / RB (controller) or navigate with the mouse to open the Armor section.

3

Highlight the Helmet Slot

Use the Right Stick (controller) or mouse to highlight the helmet slot (top-right of the armor wheel).

4

Remove or Switch the Helmet

PC: Scroll the middle mouse wheel to cycle through available helmets or reach an empty slot to unequip. Controller: Press L2/LT and R2/RT to cycle options, or press A (Xbox) / X (PlayStation) to unequip entirely.

5

Re-equip Before Combat

When entering combat or dangerous areas, repeat the same steps to quickly swap back to your highest-stat helmet. The swap takes only a few seconds.

Alternative Methods

Visor Toggle (Helmets with Visors Only)

Some helmets, such as the Bolton Plate Helm from the Contribution Shop, have an openable visor. In the Armor tab of the Quick Menu, hover over the helmet and click the right joystick (controller) or scroll the mouse wheel (PC) to toggle the visor open or closed. Note: closing the visor will muffle Kliff's voice.

Hooded Cloak to Cover Headgear

Certain hooded cloaks can visually cover or conceal specific helmets. For example, equipping a Disguise Cloak hides the deer-head portion of the Helm of the Fallen Kingdom. This does not work for all helmets.

Tips

  • Go helmet-free during cutscenes, town visits, or peaceful exploration to show off Kliff's appearance, then swap back to a stat helmet before fights.
  • The Armor Quick Menu swap takes only a few seconds — practice it until it feels natural.
  • Helmets with open visors still show Kliff's face clearly, which is a good middle ground between aesthetics and keeping stats.
  • Pearl Abyss has not confirmed a transmog or helmet-hide feature, but their other title Black Desert Online eventually received extensive appearance systems, so future updates may add this.

About Hiding Helmets in Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert currently has no built-in transmog or helmet-hide toggle that preserves stats. The Armor Quick Menu swap is the fastest and most reliable method — practiced players can remove or re-equip a helmet in under five seconds. Helmets with openable visors offer a middle ground: you keep the stats while showing Kliff's face. Hooded cloaks that cover headgear work on specific helmets only. The situation may improve in future updates, as Pearl Abyss added extensive appearance systems to Black Desert Online over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a helmet hide toggle in the settings menu?
No. The settings menu does have a hide option, but it only applies to face accessories, not helmets. There is no dedicated toggle to hide helmet visuals while keeping the stats.
Will I lose stats if I remove my helmet?
Yes. Unequipping a helmet removes all of its defensive stats, Abyss Gear bonuses, and defense levels. Only remove it when you are confident you won't take damage.
Does the helmet stay on during cutscenes?
Yes. If you have a helmet equipped, it remains visible during cutscenes. Unequip it before important story moments if you prefer to see Kliff's face.
Is there a transmog system in Crimson Desert?
No. As of the current version, there is no transmog or cosmetic-override system for any armor piece. Pearl Abyss has not announced any plans to add one.
