Karin Quarry

Chapter 2 quest area and Excavatron boss fight in Hernand

Karin Quarry is a blockaded area north of Hernand occupied by the Bleed Bandits and their mining machine, Marni's Excavatron. The "Stolen Quarry" quest in Chapter 2 tasks you with liberating the quarry. This guide covers the liberation strategy, the Excavatron boss fight, and the subsequent Hidden Ruins puzzle that becomes accessible after clearing the area.

Location

North of Hernand Town

Prerequisites

1. Reach Chapter 2 of the main story. 2. Recommended: upgrade your sword and armor at Turnali's blacksmith in Hernand. 3. Stock up on food items before the boss fight.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

1

Approach and Scout

Head north from Hernand to Karin Quarry. The area is occupied by Bleed Bandits. Before charging in, note the three key structures you can destroy for strategic advantages.

2

Destroy the Infirmary

Find the Infirmary on the right side of the entrance (white flags on the roof). Clear nearby enemies, then destroy it with Turning Slash. This prevents wounded enemies from returning to the fight.

3

Destroy the Barracks

Past the Infirmary, near the cliff edge, find the Barracks (shields mounted on top). Destroying it reduces all enemies' max health by 10%.

4

Destroy the Timber Warehouse

Located at the far back of the quarry, near the cliff edge with a crane attached. Destroying it removes the bandits' fortifications.

5

Boss Fight: Marni's Excavatron

After clearing the bandit camp, face the Excavatron boss. The key strategy is using Force Palm when the drills light up — this staggers the boss AND cancels its devastating Dig attack. Force Palm costs 5 Spirit per use, so maintain your Spirit through parrying, killing enemies, and using Focus skill. Dodge the drill charges and counter-attack during stagger windows.

6

Post-Liberation: Sealed in Stone

After completing Stolen Quarry, return to the now-peaceful Karin Quarry. Find Erich near the crane elevator. He gives you the Crane Control Room Key, starting the "Sealed in Stone" faction quest.

7

Hidden Ruins Puzzle

During the "Estate in Dismay" faction quest, you can access the Hidden Ruins of the Quarry. Remove the relic using Focused Force Palm to solve the puzzle and activate the Abyss Cresset. Fast travel to Karin Quarry unlocks after completing Act 4.

Rewards

Quest Completion

Liberating the quarry progresses the Chapter 2 storyline and unlocks the area for free exploration.

Sealed in Stone Quest

Opens up a follow-up faction quest with additional rewards.

Abyss Cresset

The Hidden Ruins puzzle grants an Abyss Cresset for fast travel and an Abyss Artifact.

Tips

  • Upgrade your equipment at Turnali's blacksmith before attempting Karin Quarry — this is a significant difficulty spike.
  • Destroy all three structures (Infirmary, Barracks, Timber Warehouse) before engaging the boss for easier combat.
  • Stock up on food to heal during the Excavatron fight.
  • Force Palm is essential against the Excavatron — time it when the drills glow to cancel the Dig attack.
  • Maintain your Spirit by parrying attacks, killing adds, and using Focus.
  • Return to Karin Quarry after liberation to pick up the Sealed in Stone quest from Erich.

About Karin Quarry

Karin Quarry is a mandatory Chapter 2 location in the Hernand region of Crimson Desert, occupied by the Bleed Bandits and their Excavatron mining machine. The Stolen Quarry quest tasks you with liberating the area — destroying the Infirmary, Barracks, and Timber Warehouse before the boss fight makes the encounter significantly easier. The Excavatron is countered by timing Force Palm when its drills glow, which staggers the boss and cancels its Dig attack. After liberation, the quarry opens up for exploration and a follow-up faction quest chain including the Hidden Ruins puzzle, which grants an Abyss Cresset fast travel point.
