Azure Moon Labyrinth
Symbol-matching puzzle in The Witchwoods
The Azure Moon Labyrinth is one of the Ancient Ruins (Abyss Cresset) puzzles in The Witchwoods region. It appears on your map as a "Mysterious Energy" question mark marker near Phoniel Ranch. The puzzle requires navigating fire traps and platforming sections to reach an underground chamber with eight symbol-marked stone blocks on the walls. You must push exactly five correct symbols to open the gate protecting the Abyss Cresset. The solution clues are hidden on trees throughout Pororin Forest, depicted on a mural inside the labyrinth.
Location
Phoniel Ranch, The Witchwoods, east of Hernand. The entrance is a wooden shack with a hidden ladder at a small unnamed ranch northeast of the Witch's House. Note: the obvious cave entrance nearby is actually the exit — the true entrance is the shack ladder.
Nearest Fast Travel
Witch's House (The Witchwoods). After solving the puzzle, the Abyss Cresset itself becomes a new fast travel point.
Prerequisites
No strict story prerequisites to enter the labyrinth itself. However, to find the puzzle solution through intended clues, you must complete "The Unreachable Village" quest to gain access to Pororin Village. To trigger this quest: approach the Pororin Forest entrance 3-4 times (you will be hit by sleep darts from Shai children each time). On the final attempt, a Shai girl named Arkin appears and asks you to retrieve the Pororin Relic from a giant Ent (walking tree). Complete this quest to unlock permanent access to Pororin Village.
Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Find the Hidden Entrance
Head to Phoniel Ranch in The Witchwoods (east of Hernand). Look for the "Mysterious Energy" question mark on your map. Do NOT enter the obvious cave nearby — that is the exit. Instead, go slightly northeast to find a small wooden shack at the unnamed ranch. Climb down the ladder inside to enter the labyrinth.
Navigate the Fire Traps
After descending the ladder, you will face fire-spewing wall traps and spike pits. There are two approaches: (1) Shimmy Method — carefully edge along wall ledges to avoid flames and spikes, watching for falling rocks; (2) Speed Method — sprint through, using dodge rolls, Force Palm jumps, double-jumps, or grapple mechanics to bypass hazards quickly. After passing the traps, pull the lever to open the gate into the puzzle chamber.
Examine the Mural (Optional Clue)
On the left wall before the puzzle room, you will find a cracked mural depicting a map of the local area with trees and a small village in the center. This represents the Pororin Forest and Village. Five locations are marked with red X symbols — these correspond to five trees in the forest, each bearing a symbol that matches one of the puzzle buttons. This step is optional if you already know the solution.
Find Tree Symbols in Pororin Forest (Optional)
If following the intended clue path, travel to Pororin Village (requires completing "The Unreachable Village" quest first). Locate five marked trees scattered around the forest: (1) Northwest of village — letter F symbol; (2) North of village on a cliff — letter P symbol; (3) Southeast of village — F with three horizontal lines; (4) Florindale woods area — P with one horizontal line; (5) Near Reachwood Ruins — P with three horizontal lines. These five symbols are the answer to the puzzle.
Solve the Symbol Puzzle
In the puzzle chamber, there are eight stone blocks on the walls, each marked with a letter-like symbol. Push exactly these five correct symbols (in any order) by walking up against them: (1) Letter F; (2) Letter F with 3 horizontal lines; (3) Letter P; (4) Letter P with 1 horizontal line; (5) Letter P with 3 horizontal lines. Leave the remaining three symbols untouched. If you press a wrong combination, the puzzle resets after five presses — simply try again. Once all five correct symbols are pushed in, the gate opens automatically.
Claim Your Rewards
Walk through the opened gate to find the Abyss Cresset. Interact with it to claim your Abyss Artifact. You will also receive the Memory of Tide. A shortcut exit door also opens, allowing you to leave directly without retracing through the fire traps.

Tips
- The obvious cave entrance near the question mark is the EXIT, not the entrance. Look for the wooden shack with a ladder at Phoniel Ranch instead.
- The fire trap obstacle course is often harder than the puzzle itself. Use wall ledges to shimmy past flames, or sprint through with dodge rolls if your health allows.
- Symbol order does not matter — you can press the five correct symbols in any sequence.
- If you press wrong symbols, the puzzle resets after five total presses. There is no penalty, so you can brute-force it if needed.
- Finding the tree clues in Pororin Forest is optional but rewarding for exploration. You can use the solution directly to save time.
- To access Pororin Village for the clues, you must approach the forest entrance 3-4 times and complete the Unreachable Village quest (retrieving the Pororin Relic from a giant Ent).
- After solving the puzzle, a shortcut exit door opens so you do not need to navigate the fire traps again.
- Use the Memory of Tide reward immediately — it reveals eight hidden waterfall caves in the Alfonso State region, which contain valuable loot.

FAQ
- Why can't I open the stone gate at the cave entrance?
- The cave entrance near the map marker is actually the exit, not the entrance. The stone gate opens from the inside after you solve the puzzle. To enter the labyrinth, find the wooden shack with a ladder at Phoniel Ranch, slightly northeast of the cave.
- Do I need to press the symbols in a specific order?
- No, the order does not matter. You can press the five correct symbols in any sequence. Just make sure you press exactly the right five out of eight available symbols.
- What happens if I press the wrong symbols?
- If you activate five symbols and the combination is incorrect, all symbols reset and pop back out. There is no punishment or damage — simply try again with a different combination.
- Do I need to complete the Unreachable Village quest to solve the puzzle?
- No. The quest only grants access to Pororin Village where the intended clues are located. If you already know which five symbols to press (F, F with 3 lines, P, P with 1 line, P with 3 lines), you can solve the puzzle without ever visiting Pororin Village.
- What does the Memory of Tide do?
- The Memory of Tide is a consumable item. When used from your inventory, it permanently reveals the locations of eight hidden caves behind waterfalls in the Alfonso State region of southern Hernand. These caves contain additional loot and exploration content.
- How do I get past the fire traps?
- You have multiple options: shimmy along wall ledges to avoid the flames (watch your stamina), use dodge rolls to sprint through the fire, use Force Palm jumps or double-jumps to bypass hazards, or use the grapple mechanic. The shimmy method is safer but slower; the sprint method is faster but requires good timing.
