Skill Tree Tips
Prioritize Core Skills
Max out Armed Combat and basic dodge skills early. They form the backbone of all combat and benefit every build.
Observe to Unlock
Many skills can be unlocked for free by watching enemies or NPCs use them. Pay attention during boss fights and NPC encounters.
Plan Around Weapon Type
Your weapon choice affects which skills are most effective. Two-handed weapon users should prioritize Stamina branch, while dagger users benefit from Combat branch evasion skills.
Understanding the Skill Tree System
The Crimson Desert skill tree is divided into branches for each playable character. Skills are unlocked using Abyss Artifacts collected throughout the world, or by observing enemies and NPCs performing the skill in combat. Each skill can be leveled up multiple times, with higher levels increasing damage, duration, or adding new properties. Focus on one branch first to build a strong foundation, then diversify as you collect more Artifacts. Some skills have prerequisites — check the unlock condition before planning your build.
Skill Tree FAQ
- How do I get Abyss Artifacts in Crimson Desert?
- Abyss Artifacts are primarily obtained by defeating Abyss enemies, completing Abyss dungeons, and finding hidden caches throughout the world. Some bounty targets and boss encounters also reward Artifacts.
- Can I respec my skill points?
- As of the current version, there is no full respec option. However, Abyss Artifacts are plentiful enough that you can eventually unlock most skills. Plan carefully for early game, but don't worry too much about permanent mistakes.
- What is the maximum skill level?
- Most combat skills can be raised to Level 5 by spending additional Abyss Artifacts. Core stats like Stamina and Health can be upgraded to a maximum of 14. Higher levels provide diminishing but still meaningful returns.
- Do Kliff and Damiane share the same skill tree?
- No. While both characters have Stamina, Health, and Special branches, their individual skills within each branch differ significantly. Kliff focuses more on melee versatility and ranged bow skills, while Damiane specializes in rapier techniques and shield combat.
- What does "observe the skill in action" mean?
- Some skills can be unlocked without spending Artifacts by witnessing an NPC or enemy perform the same technique during gameplay. When you see the skill in action, a notification appears and the skill becomes available in your tree.
