On paper this is a modest common shield — 4 defense puts it mid-pack. What makes it worth seeking out is the +2 move speed, the joint-highest mobility bonus of any shield alongside Mirror of Night. If you play Kliff aggressively and treat the shield as a parry tool rather than a wall, that mobility matters more than one extra point of defense. It is also cheap to get: Sydmon vendors sell it and any Blacksmith can craft it, so you can pick one up long before the rarer alternatives appear.
