A 3-defense civilian outfit that exists for one reason: the Hernand Castle gates will not let you through in battle gear. You earn it in Chapter 1 by helping a couple clean their chimney at Muckroot Ranch (Trials of Kindness). Keep it in your inventory for the rest of the game — several story beats route through the castle, and re-earning entry is slower than just carrying the clothes. As armor it is irrelevant; as a key item wearing an armor slot, it is essential.
